Well I'm not all that good at interpretations but i did make a chart which i somehow cannot seem to attach here so ill have to type in the chart Sun Aries 8/26 Moon cancer 27/56 mercury Aries 9/00 Venus Taurus 24/18 Mars Aries 3/17 Jupiter Capricorn 15/37 Saturn Pisces 28/50 Uranus Aquarius 3/54 Neptune Capricorn 27/29 Pluto Sagittarius 2/58 and the rising sign is Libra 0/50 just taking a quick glance at the over all chart i see several trines and a moderately balanced chart lots of earth and fire so I'd have to say that yes the list will survived prosper. Keep in mind however i am still new at this and dont have a lot of time at the moment to look this over will do a little more looking later this evening Many Blessings Christi

Subject: Exegesis function

Exegesis was launched 12.26pm EST 28 March 96, 40N26 79W53.

Appraisal of function is primarily made by examination of the configuration of the Moon to the rest of the chart, but inasmuch as various other planetary archetypes manifest as energy-generating and conditioning drives, their position and inter-relation will modify functioning.

At first glance it looks like the election was well-timed. Sun and Mercury both exactly on the Midheaven makes for social impact, which in Aries is of a pioneering nature. Communication with authority figures is thus built-in, and information about the nature of hierarchical relations is hard-wired in the structure of the communication process. Participants ought to be readily informed of this potential source of natural, social and cosmic intelligence via Mercury's culmination at that precise point of alignment where the vehicle's status connects to its natural, social, and cosmic containing holarchies of which it functions as a part.

Organic process of the vehicle is robust, disciplined and effective, comfortably flowing with its basis in the universal interconnections of the natural world (Moon trine Saturn in Pisces). The Cancer Moon rising suggests a nurturing outlook, and taken together with the Dragon's head in the 4th, implies evolutionary destiny as a domicile. Over-idealistic expectations of the other tend to undermine the comfort level (Neptune setting in 7th), but not harmfully (Saturn sextile Neptune).

The vehicle was structured as a discussion forum, but the empty 3rd house suggests that information-processing is incidental. Mars in the 9th in Aries is active in the generation of wisdom, which is essentially fresh insights. This is anathema to the traditional astrologer, who is congenitally incapable of such. However Saturn in the 9th requires such wisdom to be realistic, have a universal basis in nature, and is liable to make it difficult to acquire. Saturn makes no hard aspects, so the difficulty just means application, discipline, and a constructive attitude to the subject. Hard challenges, limitations, restrictions, and blockages are not part of the structure of the vehicle.

Venus in the 11th makes for pleasant group interaction, and in Taurus this is likely to endure. Material pleasures would be the preference, but in cyberspace this can probably only manifest as experiential participation in a structured process. Venus sextile Saturn makes this happen effectively, and Venus trine Neptune provides an easy source of inspiration from interactions with the other. The sextile of Venus to the Ascendant endows the venue with charm.

Jupiter in the 6th brings lots of work. It squares the Dragon, meaning potential growth is challenging in respect to time: opportunities for progress polarise the past and future. Jupiter's wide square to the Sun brings expansive vistas which it is challenging to encompass. An ambitious pragmatism is inherent in taking advantage of these in order to build productive outputs (Jupiter in Capricorn).

The Arian culminating Sun is enterprising in the public sphere, and the group of participants can expect the vehicle to provide a pioneering spirit to the discussion process, and to consequent impact on society. The Jupiter position, with no easy aspects, suggests that much work is required in order to build productive collaboration. The Dragon's tail in the 10th suggests that high social status lies in the past, which obviously refers to astrology. The Jupiter square to the lunar nodal axis involves challenges in leaving such attachments to the past, the habits and routines of tradition, and achieving evolutionary development via a progressive attitude. The Dragon in this chart points to the 4th (home/family) and away from the 10th (career/status). In the wider scheme this is an orientation toward earth (locality) and away from heaven (non-locality). Exegesis as group domicile therefore fosters a more environmental astrology, I suspect. A belief system and practice anchored in nature, where nature is defined in the non-scientific sense as being life on earth.

The position of Chiron is therefore most interesting. In the 4th conjunct the IC, it evokes the global environmental wound and healing imperative that is the primary feature of our time in history. The relevance of this to Exegesis lies in the opposition it makes to Mercury (authoritative information opposing) and the square it makes to Jupiter (growth challenge involves healing). Astrology was wounded by its creation of a belief system too abstract and divorced from nature. I suspect that the message for Exegesis from this historical situation is that it can serve as a nurturing vehicle for a more healthy approach (Jupiter in 6th).

Our worthy moderator may be inclined to argue that he just saw it as a discussion forum. My response would be that, even so, the vehicle obtains its own trajectory, dynamism, and style, from the characteristics endowed by the launch moment.

All that remains to be said is about the interesting part played in the overall picture by the two planets not yet mentioned. Pluto in Sagittarius in the 5th indicates transformational potential in widespread arenas of speculative and creative play, only accessible to the extent that Pluto is linked by aspect to the rest of the chart. Its exact fire trine to Mars empowers any such endeavour with considerable vigour, and exploratory activities undertaken with great energy are indicated, directed toward higher learning. Mars is conjunct Saturn, so we can expect these to be effectively conducted and structured in a realistic manner. The wide Saturn/Pluto/Moon grand trine provides a resilience to the vehicle's organic process.

The Exegesis 9th house Mars is conjunct the Sun/Mercury/Midheaven, all in Aries, so vigorous enterprise in pursuit of knowledge and understanding ought to have communicable impact on society. Uranus in the 7th is exactly Mars, so participants have potential capacity to act inventively to this end. The sextiles of Uranus to Sun/Mercury/Midheaven suggest that partnership with eccentric non-conformist others will be innovative in its social impact, and understanding of how to communicate with other participants is inherent. Uranus in early Aquarius is the transit that produced the global internet, so it is appropriate that we see it in this chart catalysing electronic partnerships in cyberspace.

The 5th house Pluto makes quadruple trines to Mars, Sun, Mercury, Midheaven, making for a powerfully vigorous yet entertaining group performance. In Sagittarius this ranges far and wide, through multiple ethnicities and cultural contexts, and readily has a deeply transformative effect on society. Pluto's sextile to Uranus produces compelling innovative capacity, and the semi-squares Pluto makes to Jupiter and the Dragon's head provide the vehicle with a powerful drive toward evolutionary progress, plus a striving for expansion to encompass a broader traditional culture basis upon which to advance. Pluto's total configuration is thus remarkable, yet all 3 outer planets along with Saturn are well-integrated so we can expect the vehicle to harness these 4 planetary archetypes that mediate collective integration.

The vehicle is therefore in theory able to function effectively as a link to the cosmic/natural/social environment. The group of participants using the vehicle at any one time have the energies liberated or actualised by the planetary archetypes `on tap', but manifestation of these is proportional to both the quality and extent of participation. Any substantial impact on society must result from what is produced by the vehicle, and this consists of insights generated in the minds of readers by individual contributors as well as constructive collaboration between them aimed at developing common knowledge. If participants don't try very hard, potential of the vehicle tends to remain latent. Jupiter's square to the Dragon from the 6th signifies this quite clearly. Traditional astrology remains the status quo to the extent that laziness prevails, signified by the Dragon's tail on high.

Yes, chaos theory accounts for such irregular patterns of ebb & flow in organic process.

Well, perhaps we foreigners unable to access the new Exegesis structure have been waiting to see if any in-house discussion would be reproduced as digests.

Good. Around in circles, I suspect.

Well I ran the Exegesis chart as soon as I found the data on the web-site two years ago. It was immediately obvious that it was not a suitable vehicle for me personally, but since it looked like the only mailing list created to address the substance of astrology, rather than merely the form, I was obliged to participate.

Incidentally, I note you have not included the time zone above (EST), or given the coordinates a place name. I've found from associating with astrologers that either, let alone both in combination, deters all but the most resolute from using the data. Working it out for themselves requires labour of the intellect, something that astrologers detest.

 > What do you think? Can the list survive this chart? And what is the

When Bill Tallman suggested last year that Exegesis could not facilitate the depth of examination of the issues that some of us felt was necessary in order to make progress, I wrote myself an appraisal of the Exegesis chart in order to gauge the extent of any structural inadequacy relevant to our purpose. To do this, it was necessary to assume that it was a genuine launch chart. A mailing list is launched at that precise moment that the structure becomes operational. That is to say, when the design has been implemented fully, the structure completed fully, and the process begins to function. I presume that the data as given was indeed for the time and place that it began to operate.

It appeared from the appraisal that the vehicle is surprisingly robust, and unafflicted by any serious design flaw. However, given that the restriction on quotes (apparently due to limited computer memory space of the host web-site) does cramp one's style somewhat in responding to prior commentary on subtle issues, this operational difficulty ought to be reflected in my case study. I'll send it (separately) so you can see for yourself if this is so.

Perhaps I should elaborate on that last point rather than assume comprehension. I try to do any case study interpretation purely as an exercise of applied theory. Any correspondence between real life and what theory suggests is better assessed after completion. This is an internal discipline resulting from having been trained as a scientist. I'm well aware that most astrologers force their interpretation to conform to their prior knowledge, or expectation, of the subject of the case study. That said, my rigour does sometimes lapse sufficiently to allow me to note, during the interpretation, a correlation between the theoretical feature predicted and what has actually happened.

I mention this because it was an issue that always bothered me about the Exegesis debate parameters. We really ought to be able to discuss how to tell if astrological theory is reliable or accurate. Applied astrology must include a reality check, if it is ever to become credible.
