Hello All,

Over the weekend I found enough time to finish setting up a web server on my internet connection and make it available by way of a free dynamic domain service. You can use the server to browse the archive of this mail list (not quite up to date...yet, but soon!) and you can participate in a threaded discussion forum for those topics "too hot" for this list. The forum is unmoderated and pretty much unrestricted. If the need arises I can create new discussion areas and perhaps provide upload space for smallish documents. We have a lot of flexibility here, so we can see what develops.

The URL is:

http://exegesis.dyndns.org

Please note that this is a "home server" and might not be as robust or as available as a commercial web site. My ISP occasionally (a few times a day) changes my IP address and that change takes a few minutes to propagate though the internet domain name system. During this period of time the server may appear unavailable, but it is usually invisible only for a small period of time. If you try to connect and fail please wait a few minutes before trying again.

On the other hand, this is a new system and may occasionally need to be disconnected while repairs are made. I will attempt to redirect the URL to a "site offline" page if that happens, but may not always be able to do so. If you cannot connect after repeated attempts please send an email to me and I'll check for problems.

My intent is the mail list be for "deep" and "on-topic" things, all else should go to the forum. Additionally, I hope to eventually automate the archive so that list digests immediately appear in the archive, indexed and searchable (this will take more work, I'll get to ASAP).

Finally, I've disabled the email system on the server to prevent abuse, so the "email this" options will not work. The system is currently open to all, but if we get hit with a lot of spam or abuse I will send all list participants a unique password and block public access. As usual, I'll delete any spam I see. Aside from that, have fun!
