Birth Time of Chess Champions are little known or ignored, despite the publication of the reference book of Jeremy Gaige (1927-2011), Chess Personalia: a Biobibliography (Jefferson, McFarland, 1987 ; 2005) and the invaluable Chess Notes of Edward Winter. An impressive database of world chess players can be found on chessgames.com. I've compiled a list of the most successful players from the XIXth century, 100 male + 8 female players, as it appears in the series below.

1/ ELO's virtual rating list of history's greatest players in the pre-Fischer era, 47 players (H), on 2700chess.com (copy 24/11/2020).
2/ The highest official FIDE ratings of all 2735+ players, 54 players (M) up to Judit Polgar, on 2700chess.com (copy 24/11/2020).
3/ Plus the most famous World Chess Female Champions, 7 players (F): Vera Menchik (1927-1939), Elisaveta Bykova (1953-1959), Nona Gaprindashvili (1962-1975), Maia Chiburdanidze (1978-1988), Xie Jun (1991-2000), Hou Yifan (2010-2016), Ju Wenjun (2018-2020).

On this pannel of 108 Chess Champions (birth dates given in Gregorian Calendar), only a dozen of them are mentioned in Astrodatabank, some with speculative or dirty data. Among the players collected there (Alekhine, Anand, Botvinnik, Capablanca, Carlsen, Caruana, Euwe, Fischer, Gelfand, Karpov, Kasparov, Lasker, Morphy, Reshevsky, Smyslov, Vachier-Lagrave), three are speculative or dirty data (Morphy, Botvinnik, Smyslov), one has wrong birth year (Reshevsky) and three have unchecked birth time (Karpov, Carlsen, Caruana). Jan Timman is ignored. It remains about a dozen birth dates, more or less well referenced with accurate sources.

In the fourth column, you can access to the charts (CH) of players whose birth time is known. All charts are calculated with OCTOTOPE (8 Houses System), Longitudes and ALTITUDES for significant planetary bodies, and TRUE MC (the real ecliptic point of highest altitude at birth) : See my doctoral thesis (VIII.7-15) on the question about How to draw a right astrological chart.
 

The distribution of Chess Champions in the Zodiac seems highly significant in spite of the reduced sample. The average is 9 by zodiacal Sun sign, but 15 for Pisces, 17 for Scorpio, and only 2 for Virgo. As I understand Chess, which is Chaos Controling (Scorpio), agressive Positioning (Mars) and Globalization by formal Restructuring (Ceres, Pisces), this tiny statistics seems to fit rather well. Among players whose charts are complete including birth time, all are highly involved by these criteria (Ceres Pisces, Mars Aries, Pluto Scorpio) :

Lasker : Mars Grand Trine Sun and Moon ; Mars Opposite Ceres in Pisces
Capablanca : Sun in Scorpio ; Axe Pluto with Mars and Uranus
Alekhine : Sun in Scorpio, Moon in Pisces ; Skirt Ceres and Moon to Sun and Venus
Euwe : Ceres in ASC (altitude 0°10)
Fischer : Sun Pisces ; Ceres Aries in MC ; Pluto in ASC Opposite Mars in DSC
Karpov : Ceres Pisces (in DSC ?) ; Mars Conjunct Sun
Timman : Ceres Pisces in DSC ; Trapeze Mars Uranus Jupiter Chiron
Kasparov : Sun in Aries ; Pluto and Ceres in MC
Gelfand : Mars Conjunct Sun ; Ceres in IC
Anand : Ceres in ASC ; Triangle Pluto with Saturn and Moon
